Tattoo Time: Henry James
Recently I had a nice sit down with a local Tattoo Artist. By local I mean he is located Auburn, Washington. And by sat down with I mean talked via the internet(nifty little gadget, makes distance like nothing!) I took a peek at Henry’s work and was impressed, I had to know more about this inker(if that’s even a word)
Furies Mag: How long have you been working as an artist?
Henry James: I started tattooing in 1999, so, about 13 years.
FM: Do you have a favorite tattoo style?
HJ: I really enjoy anything that bright and bold.
FM: What is the most stupid question you get asked?
HJ: It’s funny, but I do get asked a lot, “do you guys do tattoos here?”
FM: What made you want to be a Tattoo Artist?
HJ: I lived down the street from a tattoo shop. Seeing all the cool cars and bad ass tattooed people. Who wouldn’t want to be apart of that?
FM: What’s the most ugly tattoo you have had to cover-up?
HJ: I don’t know about the ugliest but the most memorable cover up was on a girl who got kidnapped. The people did some home-made tattoos on her to make her remember what they did.
FM: Any thing you wish you could say to customers, but don’t?
HJ: I always want to say, “This isn’t Burger King, you can’t always have it your way.”
So there you go. “This isn’t Burger King, you can’t always have it your way.”
You can view Henry’s work on his facebook page.
Or you can take a stroll into Ink Werks Tattoo, 801 C St SW in Aubern, Washington.
